The champions, Remo Stars, suffered their seventh defeat of the season. They lost 0-1 to an early goal at Niger Tornadoes scored by Clinton Jephta on two minutes.
The win ensured Tornadoes climb into the top-three of the standings pending the outcome of Sunday’s matches in the NPFL.
Seven matches are lined up for Sunday including league-leading Nasarawa United playing on the road at Warri Wolves.
